Spooky Mode

Privacy Policy

Your photo remains yours. When you request an AI portrait, we use it only to create the spooky look you selected.

Who we are

Spooky Mode is made by Oh My Gosh Fun Apps ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how the Spooky Mode iOS app handles information when you use the app.

Information we handle

How we use information

We use the information above to generate and return your requested avatar, apply your selected decorations, unlock and restore purchases, provide support, protect the service from misuse, and meet legal or security obligations. We do not use your photos for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

User Photos and Face Data

What we process. A photo you choose from Apple's photo picker or take with the camera may contain a face. Before accepting the photo, Spooky Mode uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect how many visible faces are present so it can require one clearly visible face. This check is used only for that validation. Spooky Mode does not identify you, recognize a person, create a face embedding or biometric template, extract face landmarks, infer identity or attributes, or keep the Vision face-detection result.

When data leaves the device. Decoration-only and frame-only looks are rendered on the device. If you select a hat, hood, or bow, the selected source photo is converted to a standard JPEG and sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker. The Worker forwards that photo and the selected accessory reference images to OpenAI's Images Edits API to generate the requested portrait, then returns the generated image to the app. This transfer is necessary for the AI portrait feature and is not used for advertising, analytics, or training our own models.

Sharing and third parties. The photo and accessory references are shared only with Cloudflare as the service that routes the request and OpenAI as the image-generation provider. We do not sell or rent photos, and we do not send them to advertisers or analytics providers. Apple receives purchase and entitlement information through StoreKit; Apple does not receive the user's photo from this app's purchase flow.

Storage and retention. The iOS app keeps the selected and generated image data in memory for the active creation session so you can preview and edit it. Choosing another photo or starting another creation clears the app's in-memory references and its in-memory generation cache. The app does not intentionally write the original or generated image to its own files, database, Cloudflare R2, or KV storage. The Worker holds request data only while processing and our code does not log image bytes. Cloudflare may process limited request and invocation metadata for operating the Worker under the applicable Cloudflare plan. OpenAI may retain API request content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, unless approved retention controls are enabled for our OpenAI project; OpenAI's independent retention is governed by its current API data-controls terms.

Deletion and user choice. You choose whether to provide a photo, whether to request an AI portrait, and whether to save the finished image. The final PNG is written to your Apple Photos library only after you tap the save button and authorize Photos access. We do not keep an app-owned persistent copy after the in-memory creation session ends. You can also ask us to review a privacy request at adrian@globalcreative.co.

Storage and your choices

Camera and photo access are optional and controlled by iOS. You can choose individual photos with Apple's photo picker, change those permissions at any time in iOS Settings, and use the app's decoration-only editing without sending a photo to the AI provider.

Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your photos or personal information. Any sharing is limited to the service providers described in User Photos and Face Data, Apple for App Store transactions, support communications you initiate, or disclosures required by law or needed to protect the service and its users.

Children

Spooky Mode does not require an account and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the date above.
